Patrick E. Lynch was born in Detroit on July 23, 1950, to the late Rosemary O'Hara Lynch and the late Edward J. Lynch. Mr. Lynch resides in Bloomfield Hills. He has been a life long resident of the Birmingham - Bloomfield area. He graduated from Brother Rice High School where he was Captain of the football team. He attended the University of Dayton on a football scholarship and graduated in 1972 from Wayne State University Department of Mortuary Science where he was president of his class.
Mr. Lynch became a licensed funeral director in 1972. He is a member of National Funeral Directors Association and the Michigan Funeral Directors Association. He has been involved in funeral service in the following capacities: President of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association; Member, Public Information Committee; Member, Speakers Bureau; Member, Young Funeral Directors Committee; Member, Vision 2000 Committee; and Chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee. For the National Funeral Directors Association he has served on the Young Funeral Directors Committee, Continuing Education Committee, Communications Committee, Public Relations Committee, Consumer Information Task Force, and the Pursuit of Excellence Work Group.
Mr. Lynch has extensive community service involvement. He has been President of the Optimist Club of Birmingham; Michigan Cancer Society, Oakland Country Branch; Brother Rice High School Alumnae Association; and Millpond Homeowners Association; Board Member of the Granview Beach Homeowners Association; Everest Academy, in Clarkston; and Angels Place; Chairman of the Troy Vicariate Archdiocese of Detroit; Guest House Dinner; Vice Chairman, Brother Rice High School Board of Directors; Member, Birmingham Rotary Club; Marian High School Dad's Club; Brother Rice High School Dad's Club; Oakland County Executive Association; Saturday Club; The Village Players Theater Group; St. Dunstan's Theater Group; and the Detroit Athletic Club.
Mr. Lynch has been married for 26 years to Mary Callaghan Lynch, a professional opera singer and actress. They have two children, Caitlin, age 23, a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Music, where she majored in Vocal Performance, and Patrick (Paddy), age 19, a sophomore at Boston College.
Mr. Lynch is President of the Clawson location of Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors. Lynch & Sons is one of the largest family owned and operated funeral homes in Michigan, operating funeral homes in Clawson, Milford, Walled Lake, Oxford and Plymouth.
