Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors will host The Museum of American Funeral Customs
traveling exhibit, Reflections, during their Community Open House
on Saturday, June 13, from 1-4PM at the funeral home at 600 East Main Street in
Brighton.
The
one thousand square foot mobile exhibit has traveled all over the country,
including stops at Arlington National Cemetery and Springfield, Illinois where
President Lincoln is buried. The
funerals of Abraham Lincoln, JFK, Rosa Parks and Elvis Presley are among the
many highlighted in the educational exhibit.
Lynch
& Sons purchased the former Herrmann Funeral Home in Brighton in May and
have spent the last six weeks doing renovations to the facility.
“We’ve
added a new lounge and library area,” says Mike Lynch, owner and manager of the
funeral home, “a place to relax with a cup of coffee and sandwich.” In addition, new windows and doors have
been added to the main visitation rooms, bringing much more natural light into
the building. Landscaping and
signage and lighting have all been refurbished.
“The
veterans will be here to preside over a flag raising and we’ve asked area
clergy to lead us in prayer to rededicate the building and our staff to the
care of the living and the dead,” added Mike’s dad, Thomas Lynch.
Lynch
& Sons is the largest family-owned and operated funeral firm in Michigan
and the only firm in the nation to have received the highest awards for
excellence from the National Funeral Directors Association, The Cremation
Association of North America and The Order of Golden Rule. More information about the Community
Open House can be found on their website at www.LynchFuneralDirectors.com
