Irene Marie Zizka
March 12, 1919 - October 27, 2012
Irene Marie Zizka, a long time resident of Howell, Michigan and Clermont, Florida, died on October 27, 2012.  She was 93 years old.  Born on March 12, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Max and Mary Weiss, Irene grew up in Detroit where she was a graduate of Mackenzie High School.  Following high school she worked at a drug store where Robert John Zizka, who worked at the local butcher shop, would stop in for stamps--one at a time....  They fell in love and married at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Detroit on August 7, 1940 and made their home in Howell where they were blessed with the births of three sons and three daughters.
After her children were grown Irene enjoyed working as a real estate agent with Howell Town & Country Real Estate and operated Irene’s Gift Shop, a religious goods store from her home for many years.  Irene and her husband wintered in Florida for many years before permanently moving to Clermont, Florida, where she lived for over thirty years.  In Clermont, she was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where everyone knew her as “mother superior”.  Her family brought her back to live in Brighton near her family four years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert John “R.J.” Zizka in 1988 and a grandson, Michael Zizka.  She is survived by sons, Robert (Lucy), Thomas (Sharon), and David; daughters, Mary (Phil) St. Pierre, Margaret (David) Gilkes, Kate (Larry) Lawrence; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren and much extended family and dear friends who join her family in mourning her passing and giving thanks to God for her life among them.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St., Brighton on Monday, October 29, 3-8PM. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 711 Rickett Road, Brighton, on Tuesday, October 30, at 2PM with the Rev. Fr. Karl Pung officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. I'm so sorry for your loss. I knew your Mom, here in Clermont. I cleaned her house for a few years and she was such a hoot! She spoke about all of you with such pride. Truly loved her. Again, my condolescenses to all of you.

My deepest sympathies are extended to all your family during this difficult time. I worked with Bob & Irene at Howell Town & Country many years ago. They were hardworking people and very polite. Irene will be missed. Many blessings.

I am so sorry to read of your moms passing. I knew her years ago when I started working with my dad as an appraiser. Her and your father were such great people!!!I was sad to see them move . Some people in your lives that have had an impact are never forgotten,as I will never forget Irene and Bob. So sorry for your loss.

Condolences to all Irene's family. I had the pleasure of getting to know her as she was a resident at Caretel about a year ago. A very devoted Catholic, she was delightful. May she rest peacefully in the loving arms of Our Lord forever.
