Barbara Lee (Brown, Gale) Wittman, age 67, passed away on September 15, 2012 surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born in Saginaw, MI on February 8, 1945 to the late Wally and Leona Brown.  Barbara attended parochial schools in Saginaw, Marywood Academy in Grand Rapids, and graduated from St. Mary’s Cathedral High School in 1963.  She started her business career at Michigan Bell Telephone/Ameritech in Saginaw and later transferred to the Detroit area, retiring in 1995. Barb adored her family, loved to garden and was crazy about reading.

She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Gale of Tampa, FL, Pamela (Stuart) Riley, of Brighton, MI; Lisa (Matt) Markwardt of Plymouth, MI; grandchildren, Ashley Gale; Matthew and Madison  Markwardt; Aidan and Sheldon Riley; sister, Patricia Wood of Oldsmar, FL; niece, Angelique Wood as well as extended family and friends.

Friends may gather at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St., Brighton on Tuesday, September 18 from 4-6 PM, with a rosary at 6 PM. The Rev. Fr. James Mangan to officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Brighton District Library or Novi Public Library.
