Harold C. Born of Southfield died June 21, 2012. He was 89 years old. Harold was born October 17, 1922, in Detroit, to Meta (nee Pastor) and Charles Born. He was baptized at Tabor Lutheran Church in Detroit, confirmed at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Detroit and graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit. Harold proudly served in the United States Army during WWII.
A very handy man, Harold was a skilled carpenter in the Detroit area for 60 years. He was a member of the Southfield VFW Post 2645, Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Birmingham, and a long time member of Outer Drive Faith Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir.
Harold enjoyed reading and spending time at Camp Arcadia Retreat Center on Lake Michigan.
Harold is survived by his beloved wife, Berthalou Minnick, whom he married April 12, 1991. He is also survived by his faith community and many friends.
Funeral at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2225 E. Fourteen Mile Road, Birmingham, Monday 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10am. Interment in Glen Eden Cemetery, Livonia.
