Mr. Howard Clark Hollister
December 24, 1938 - June 13, 2012
Paradise found!  Today, the world lost a most exceptional human being, but heaven has gained a “rockstar.”

Howard C. Hollister (aka Howie Baby) finalized his long battle with MS, then cancer…never complaining and always more interested in encouraging those around him.  A mentor to his kids, grandkids and a plethora of others, he was an intelligent, manly man, a tower or strength and loving teddy bear at the same time.  Every one of his family members considered him to be THEIR best friend. Howard leaves behind Joan, his gal for 56 years (they began dating when she was 15, he 17!) and a zany, eclectic bunch: daughter Kathy and grandkids Matthew and Kaila, daughter Sally, her husband Kyle, and grandkid Sydney, son Scott and his wife Karen and grandkids Drew and Kyle, sister Dianne, brother Denny and cousin Pat.  Howard was a successful businessman, but more importantly, he was successful at embracing the people in his life.  He loved people as Jesus did...unconditionally!  So, as he finished this race called life; he ditched his cart and sprinted across that finish line!  Way to go Howie Baby!  Enjoy the heavenly party!   A casual celebration of Howard’s life will be held Monday, June 18th, at New Hope Church, 6020 Pontiac Lake Rd, Waterford MI.  Memorial Celebration begins at 6 PM. Pastor Mike Nelson to officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.compassion.com under “critical needs.”

The man, the friend, the intercessor...Howard. He was so ready to pray for the many prayer requests that came through those phone lines. Always with an open heart and home to the members of his & Joan's home group members. Faithful to his heavenly Father to the end. We are honored to call him a friend.

We didn't know Howard, or Joan, very well, but you both have changed our lives for the better through your children, especially Sally. From the first day we met her, Sally's "herness" - the joy, compassion, artistic expression, acceptance of self and others - that only could have been nurtured by the two of you and her sibs have had a profound impact on our ability to grow big enough arms to embrace everyone we meet and to not fear the growth and expression of our own "hisness" and "herness". Howard, your legacy lives on through your children and grandchildren and all the people whose lives you touched. Joan, Kathy, Scott, and Sally, and all the grandkids and other family members, we are so sorry for your loss. Our prayers join the many others as the Lord guides you through this time of mourning.

We have wonderful memories, as we remember all those years as neighbors: The funny stories of Pesche your dog and our dog Peanut, the many football games we all attended when Scott played, the happy times when our children were growing up, the good, the bad and the ugly events of our lives. Howard was a significant part of all this, a caring solid person who was only exceeded at times by you, Joan. Together you made a dynamic pair. We think of you all and hope your memories help ease the loss of Howard. We love you and send you our loving energy>>>>> Jim and Leona Vavra
