Ruth Pyne
November 26, 1959 - May 27, 2011
Ruth Anne Pyne, a resident of Highland, passed away May 27, 2011.  She was 51 years old.
Born November 26, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan, Ruth was one of five children born to parents Edward J. and Doreen (nee. Schihl) Hock. Ruth and her siblings were raised in South Lyon. Ruth graduated in 1977 from South Lyon High School
Ruth worked at the local hardware store. Her South Lyon High classmate, the young Bernie Pyne, also worked at the hardware store which is where their courtship began. Ruth fell for Bernie and Bernie for Ruth. The two were married on February 20, 1979 in South Lyon. Ruth and Bernie were blessed by the births of their children Jeffrey and Julia. Ruth was a devoted wife and loving mother who loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
Ruth spent her career as a dental assistant and was a proud member of the National Dental Assistants Association. Caring and nurturing, Ruth was cherished among her colleagues. She enjoyed handcrafts like crochet and cross stitch as well as relaxing poolside, reading and walking through the neighborhood. The family shared a special trip to Disney World where so many memories were made.
She was a dedicated member of Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Brighton where she attended bible study and was involved in many activities. Ruth led a deeply spiritual life which she shared with her family and friends. Her relationship with the Lord was evident in the beauty of her soul.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bernard “Bernie”; children, Jeffrey and Julia; parents, Doreen Moore and Edward (Rita) Hock; siblings, Eddie (Annie) Hock, Susan (Mike) Showerman, Linda Jarvie, George Hock.  Many loving extended family members and dear friends join in mourning Ruth’s passing and giving thanks to God for her life among them.

Condolences:
All of you are in my prayers at this most difficult time. It was always very easy for all the WHCA staff to see how much Ruth loved Jeffrey and Julia. I especially remember Ruth taking Julia as such a little girl to the West Highland Baptist Church Library very often to get many books and how proud she was of you Jeffrey, when you graduated as valedictorian and what a special open house she prepared for you. Hang onto the good memories and the hope and promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Eunice Sanford

My sympathy and prayers to the Hock and Pine families on your loss. It has been many, many years since I saw Ruth, and she clearly grew from a beautiful girl into a beautiful and loving woman, wife and mother. I cannot begin to imagine how hard it is for all of you to lose her. May you find peace and, someday, more joy than grief in the shared memories you have of her. God bless.

Bernie and family, Good friend, my family and I send our most heart felt sorrow to you at this time. I grew up with both of you through most of my youth. And, when I heard you both were married, I knew you would make a beautiful pair. I think it is a rare thing in life, and at times it seem not very common when two can make a good life for each other together, but I can tell you were both very successful. My prayer for you brother, is that you have acquired great wealth through family. I will keep you in Ruth in my thoughts and prayers. Gods peace be with you.

God gives us wonderful memories and blessings in our lives. Since Jr High school I’ve had a crush on Ruth. I’ll never forget sitting next to her in homeroom class. I slipped a Valentine card in her hall locker, and peaked at her from around the corner, I watched as she read that beautiful card. Ruth’s beauty and my shyness overwhelmed me. A friend boldly told her my whereabouts, as I told him what I was doing. I walked up to her, and she told me softly she did not like me. Now it's 2011. I just googled her name and found out she passed away. I am saddened. I miss her, and will always love her. I pray peace and blessings will continue to be with all those that came into contact with her. Sincerely Danny Fuson.
